The Mixed Method offers training courses in both Mat and equipment Pilates. Mixed Method classes can be taken in a flexible order, and trainees are not required to complete all six available courses in order to be certified for the foundational modalities. You can pursue each modality for a well-rounded instructor certification or pick just one to focus on in your journey.
Each course requires 1-3 weekends of intense training with a focus on form, cues, precision, and technique – including a wide range of specific moves (and modern modifications). After the completion of one or more courses, to certify, students will be asked to complete/present physical practice hours, practice- teaching hours, observations, a written + practical assessment, and successfully complete all TMM anatomy coursework.

Mat Pilates is the truest fundamental Pilates Teacher starting point. Our Mat & Props course encourages student instructors to begin here when diving into the “full” certification (when applicable). The TMM Mat Pilates coursework includes an introduction to the foundations of our method, anatomical movement teachings, muscular focuses, posture assessments, moves/modifications, and we formally uncover the disciplined pillars within all Pilates movement. We also incorporate education on how to incorporate and utilize popular Mat Pilates props, like the Magic Circle, in this Mat training course.

The Pilates Reformer is a key modality in every instructor’s training journey.
The TMM Reformer I/II/ III courses are collectively the largest and most comprehensive in all of the TMM program.
In the first level I/II course, TMM students will begin to learn, understand, and practice-teach the Beginner/Intermediate repertoires. After gaining a foundational Reformer knowledge and a comprehensive understanding of these Reformer concepts, TMM student instructors will be eligible to return and participate in the TMM Advanced Reformer Course (level III).
Level I/II – 133 hours
Level III – 42 hours
The TMM Tower Course is a fully comprehensive training on the specialized tower/trapeze apparatus. This Pilates education course is designed to help future instructors understand how to fully incorporate all disciplined tower/trapeze work within one’s teaching toolbox. This class covers level I/II/III training and during the live course, TMM Instructor Trainees will begin to further engage with other student teachers on how to best demonstrate, properly cue, safely teach, and demonstrate Tower moves and modifications with focus, control, and precision.
This course is also the first of three amplification courses that take a foundational Pilates certification to the next level. The amplification certification (CCB: Cadillac, Chair + Barrels), is the pathway in elevating a foundational instructor to a fully comprehensive instructor, within these 3 enhanced courses.

The Pilates Chair course is full of energy, muscular connection, disciplined form, and precision. Here, our TMM Instructor Trainees will continue to learn about the split-pedal chair apparatus, often called the Wunda Chair. TMM IITs will learn the order of Chair Pilates moves/modifications for all levels (I/ II/ III), while gaining a full understanding of the Chair’s purpose in the method, and uncover all safety features. Student Instructors will learn how to specifically utilize this versatile modality in any teaching scenario.
Chair is the second of three amplification courses in the CCB program.

The TMM Barrels course is the final course of the “full” +505/hr certification program and the 3rd course in the CCB amplification program. This course allows for each student instructor to uncover the modalities, moves, modification and repertoires taught on the Spine Corrector, Arc Barrel + Ladder Barrel. This course is designed to help future Pilates instructors gain a comprehensive understanding of these historical apparatuses used in Joe’s formal/classical studio setting. This course does require a prerequisite of the CCB program or previous commitment within the TMM full education program, for student participation.
